About Us ANZBIG

Who We Are

The Australia and New Zealand Biochar Industry Group (ANZBIG) is the peak industry body advancing biochar production and use, as an Australian economic and climate positive solution.  Our roadmap aims to pyrolyse 50 million tonnes per annum of waste biomass residues to 15 million tpa of biochar, 30 million tpa of carbon removal and 100 million GJ of renewable energy.  This is worth in excess of $10 Billion annually to the Australian Economy.   We remove and avoid carbon while improving the economy.

Biochar itself is a versatile product that can help surpass the Australian Government Agricultural Productivity target by restoring soil natural capital and improving animal performance, while it can also be used in heavy industry to provide decarbonised solutions.

ANZBIG members span technology providers, biomass waste recovery, biochar users, consultants, researchers and stakeholders   We serve as the collaborative hub for governments, researchers, businesses, councils, and primary producers working to scale biochar production and use adoption across the region via the roadmap..

ANZBIG is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, governed by a board of directors, and supported by advisory boards and working groups.
